My Story
Laquanda Autrey, M.A. in Counseling Psychology, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and trauma-informed practitioner dedicated to supporting individuals, couples, and families on their healing journey. With a background in community mental health, social work, and holistic wellness, she brings years of experience walking alongside children, adolescents, and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relational challenges, life transitions, and chronic stress.
Before I embraced a more holistic approach to my own healing, I often measured my worth by what I could do, accomplish, or achieve. I carried a quiet pressure to perform, to stay productive, and to meet an internal standard of what I thought I was supposed to be as a therapist and as a person.
On the outside, I was functioning. On the inside, I felt disconnected emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I experienced periods of depression, self-doubt, and a deep sense of unworthiness that I didn’t always have words for.
I also noticed I was treating my wellness in separate parts mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational rather than seeing myself as a whole system. That separation kept me in survival mode: always striving, rarely fully grounded.
My healing began to shift when I stopped trying to separate these parts of myself and instead began integrating them. As I learned to reconnect mind, body, spirit, and faith, I started returning to a more aligned version of myself not perfect, but whole.
My Work / How I Support Healing
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. My work is grounded in creating a safe, supportive, and collaborative space where clients can explore their emotions, relationships, patterns, and lived experiences.
My clinical approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based modalities including client-centered therapy, CBT, psychodynamic theory, systems work, gestalt, mindfulness, and somatic interventions.
In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I also integrate holistic practices such as Reiki and hypnotherapy when appropriate, supporting clients in deepening their mind-body awareness and emotional regulation. This integrative approach allows me to meet clients not only cognitively, but also emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Therapy with me is both compassionate and honest. I will meet you with warmth and understanding, and I will also gently challenge the patterns that are keeping you stuck. My goal is to support you in moving from survival into greater clarity, connection, and self-trust.
